Texas elects one prosecutor in over 160 districts. Prosecutors are called criminal district attorneys, district attorneys, or county attorneys. Prosecutors serve four-year terms and preside over districts consisting of single counties, multiple counties, or portions of counties. Election districts have not remained consistent over the study period.
